Self-Love: Between a Rock & a Hard place
Compassion for squeezed hearts
Service Description
In Spanish, there's an idiom about being stuck in a super difficult situation: estar entre la espada and la pared. It means: Caught between a sword and the wall. The expression comes from ancient fencing duels. If a fighter was backed up all the way against a wall by an opponent's sword, they were completely trapped with no room to escape or maneuver. It's like when we say, "I'm between a rock and hard place" to describe being in a very difficult situation where we have no good options, or we're facing a tough dilemma.(These often arise with our closest family members, when we're at a standstill of different opinions, and/or our needs for respect or equality are pinched, and it hurts.) We can feel angry, dull, hopeless, confused, and perhaps most challenging- like we don't even deserve love or self-compassion in this situation. We will explore how we can still make room (even a tiny bit!) for self-compassion, other-compassion, and self-love in these places. Bring your wound, your fear, your yearning for connection or ease. Let's talk it out, practice it thoroughly, and widen the chance for inner peace to breathe. In addition to engaging the 2nd half of the Self-Compassion workbook (by K. Neff), we'll keep going deeper. 6 weeks, 90 min. sessions. Powerful support.
